The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have set up companies in their names in order to protect their ‘intellectual property rights’.

Prince William established the firm APL Anglesey, while Kate set up CE Strathearn, Kensington Palace confirmed.

The move will enable them to take action against anyone selling products that could harm their image.

But a Kensington Palace spokesman denied the new companies were set up more than a year ago so the royals could cash in on their names.

William’s younger brother Prince Harry has also founded a company called Tsessebe, after an African antelope, to protect his ‘intellectual property’.
