As always, it’s been an eventful year in the world of fashion. Highlights include the most glamorous tumble ever by Jennifer Lawrence in Dior at the Oscars, Kim Sears giving us glossy Stepford tennis wife at Wimbledon, the Gothic glamour of Marc Jacobs’ final show for Louis Vuitton in October and all the Marant madness and Cyrus hysteria in between.
With that in mind, we’ve been wondering what the big stories might be in 2014. So, here are the top 10 fashion headlines we’re hoping to read next year.
1. Victoria Beckham to show at London Fashion Week

It just doesn’t seem right that Victoria Beckham always shows her collections Stateside. As a Spice Girl who was at the height of her fame when Cool Britannia ruled the airwaves and, now, with her hugely successful eponymous label promoting British design abroad, it feels like time for her to come home to London Fashion Week so we can celebrate one of our true homegrown talents.
No doubt, Natalie Massanet is already working on extricating the Beckhams from Anna ‘The Bob’ Wintour’s clutches, so fingers crossed for next September.
2. Alexa Chung launches her own fashion line

In November, Alexa told Grazia: ‘All I want to do is design clothes. But you need loads of money to set up a label’. Let’s hope someone gives her that money soon so we can snap up Alexa’s trademark 60s dresses, cool knits, Peter Pan collars and pea coats. As much as we’re curious to see what Kate Moss delivers for Topshop in the spring, Alexa’s look feels far more relevant somehow.
3. Kate Middleton gets a new hairdo

It would be nice to see Kate with a new, fuss-free do in 2014. How we’d love to lop off those high-maintenance ageing American style locks and see her with a wavy Karlie Kloss ombré bob instead.

4. Aila Wang and Harper Beckham are involved in a vicious spat backstage at Fashion Week

Alexander Wang’s niece and Harper Beckham are both regulars at New York Fashion Week and are leading the way for the toddler set with their top knots and baby Balenciagas. We like to imagine they’re fierce fashion rivals backstage – who will throw their toys out of the pram first?
5. Cycling shorts with go-faster stripes come back into fashion

Well, every other regrettable trend from the 90s has enjoyed a comeback of late, so why not these? We’re not sure how they’ll convince us to wear them but they managed it with crop tops. Will be spotted in Dalston first.
6. After the success of Isabel Marant for H&M, Celine is announced as the next collaboration

H&M is due to announce its next designer collaboration on February 2 and we’ve got everything crossed for Pheobe Philo’s Celine. Philo (who received an OBE in the New Year Honours List) is expert at predicting what we’re all going to want to wear before we know ourselves and, like Marant, consistently designs clothes that everyone wants to get their hands on.
7. JW Anderson to design One Direction’s tour outfits

We’re just so bored of their tame boyband-by-numbers style. Did you see them trying to look like the Rolling Stones but coming over a little Bon Jovi on the X Factor final? JW Anderson and his challenging unisex aesthetic would shake them up and we reckon Louis would suit bondage trousers and a halter neck.
8. Clueless 2 goes into production

Yes, we know you shouldn’t go back and sequels are never as good as the original (unless it’s Toy Story) but it would be great to see the return of Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd. What would Cher make of internet shopping? Are the Kardashians Bettys or Monets?
9. Harry proposes to Cressida and rumours abound she’ll wear Temperley

We all want another royal wedding because the whole country gets to bake Victoria sponges and get horribly drunk on Pimms. But, more importantly, the fashion press gets to speculate endlessly about which designer will dress the boho bride. Our money’s on Temperley London or Matthew Williamson.
10. Kate Moss joins Instagram

Because those party pics would be epic.
