He might be sitting down for serious interviews to discuss bombshell allegations in his memoir Spare, but Prince Harry took a lighter approach to his chat with Stephen Colbert, reportedly downing tequila shots on set.

The Duke of Sussex has already taken part in several interviews promoting his book, including one with Tom Bradby and another with 60 Minutes’ Anderson Cooper.

He’s generated plenty of headlines already after extracts were leaked last week, while his recent interviews also saw him allege that some members of his family had ‘gone to bed with the devil’ to improve their public image, and how joining the army was ‘turning pain into purpose’.

Now, in what is believed to be his last interview promoting the book, Harry’s is set to appear on the late night timeslot in the US tonight.

While his interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is yet to air, Harry, 38, was seen on set taking shots with the talk show host when the segment was pre-recorded on Monday afternoon in New York.

Members of the audience told the Daily Mail they watched Harry answer a series of questions from Stephen, 58, in his Colbert Questionert segment.

Prince Harry Interview with Tom Bradby Produced by ITN Productions ITV will show an exclusive interview with Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, next Sunday in which he will talk in-depth to Tom Bradby, journalist and ITV News at Ten presenter, covering a range of subjects including his personal relationships, never-before-heard details surrounding the death of his mother, Diana, and a look ahead at his future. The 90 minute programme, produced by ITN Productions for ITV, will be broadcast two days before Prince Harry?s autobiography ?Spare? is published on 10 January, by Transworld. The book has been billed by publisher Penguin Random House as 'a landmark publication full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief'. Filmed in California, where Harry now lives, Harry: The Interview, sees the Prince go into unprecedented depth and detail on life in and out of the Royal Family. Speaking to Tom Bradby, who he has known for more than 20 years, Prince Harry shares his personal story, in his own words. Michael Jermey, ITV Director of News and Current Affairs, said: 'It is extremely rare for a member of the Royal Family to speak so openly about their experience at the heart of the institution. 'Tom Bradby?s interview with Prince Harry will be a programme that everyone with an informed opinion on the monarchy should want to watch.

The quiz devised by the comedian consists of 15 questions that the TV host says ‘cover the full spectrum of human experience’.

In a teaser video for the interview, Stephen said that he had read Spare and described it as very ‘revealing’ and ‘quite emotional’.

Speaking about Harry’s sadness when Prince William allegedly didn’t want to ‘know’ him while they attended Eton, Stephen joked: ‘It’s heartbreaking, to be rejected by his older brother at school even though that magic hat sorted them into the same house.’

While there have been endless allegations and anecdotes dropping from the book, it seems like members of the public haven’t been too fussed about lining up to snap up a copy.

Despite some bookshops in the UK extending their opening hours in expectation that many people would want to purchase the book as soon as it came out at midnight, only a handful turned out.

Retailer WHSmith extended hours at around 10 shops, including those at Heathrow and Gatwick airports and Victoria and Euston railway stations, allowing readers to pick up an early copy of the 417-page book.

Although 400 books were delivered, only 12 were sold at Victoria station.

The memoir is also already being sold at half-price (£14) at a number of stores.

Large parts of the text were released last week after it started selling early in Spain.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs on CBS in the US.
