Jamie Oliver has revealed he offered to cater Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding earlier in 2018 – but received radio silence in return.
Awkward.
‘I did actually write and say if they want the food sorted I would bring the best of British and American chefs together to do the catering,’ revealed Jamie, explaining that he never received a reply from the Duke and Duchess.
‘I would have done it for free! You know, I like a bit of a moment,’ he added, unnecessarily because we all know he loves a moment.
Speaking on Sunday Brunch, he also revealed his would-be plans for the food, suggesting he ‘would have got all the American gang over and got all the British dudes… It would have been the best brigade of kitchen ever’.
Instead of Jamie, the happy couple hired Royal chef Mark Flanagan to oversee the sit down dinner which saw 200 guests dine on traditional and seasonal British foods including asparagus, peas and tomatoes.
For the lunch, the pair are thought to have worked with Table Talk – who also catered Will and Kate’s wedding reception in 2011 – with guests at the Queen’s luncheon reportedly snacking on treats such as grilled English asparagus wrapped in Cumbrian ham, heritage tomato and basil tartare with balsamic pearls, and croquette of confit Windsor lamb, roasted veggies and shallot jam.
Harry and Meghan also had trendy bowl food passed around the 600 luncheon guests, with the menu including pea and mint risotto with pea shoots, truffle oil and parmesan crisps, and ten hour slow roasted Windsor pork belly with apple compote and crackling.
