Prince Harry and Meghan will be spending Christmas with Prince William and Kate, Kensington Palace has confirmed – despite rumours of a rift between the duchesses.
The royal couples will celebrate Christmas Day together in Sandringham, Norfolk, along with the Queen and other family members, a spokesperson has said.
The news comes after weeks of speculation that the newly married Duke and Duchess of Sussex had not been getting along with the Cambridges.
Kensington Palace stated that both couples would participate in Christmas Day traditions, but could not comment on where they would be spending the remainder of the festive period.
Westlife just announced a new single and first performance in six yearsRumours that Kate and Meghan had fallen out first began last month when it was announced that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be moving out of Kensington Palace.
In the weeks that followed several royal sources came forward, painting a picture of problems between the two royal woman and even arguments between Harry and older brother William.
Kate had allegedly told Meghan off for failing to follow royal protocol, while the former Suits actress was said to have made the Duchess of Cambridge cry at Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress fitting.
Earlier this week it was reported that Harry and Meghan had opted to stay with the Queen over Christmas, instead of with William and Kate in Anmer Hall.
A source told the Sun: ‘There’s not a huge amount of room at Sandringham so it’s quite surprising. Maybe they just want their own space.
‘Things are civil between the couples but they don’t spend much time together.’
Last year the couple’s had stayed together at the huge Norfolk estate, describing it as a ‘fantastic time’ with the children.
But whether or not they the couples get along, Christmas at Sandringham has been described by royal biographer Christopher Wilson as ‘an ordeal.’
He said: ‘Sandringham Christmases can be an ordeal, even for those born royal – and generally those who’ve married into the family can’t wait to get away.’
