Kensington Palace has today confirmed that the Duke of Cambridge will train as an air ambulance pilot before taking up a full time role next year.

William will begin a civilian pilot course next month, followed by dedicated 999-response training. If he passes both, he will join the East Anglian Air Ambulance which is based at Cambridge Airport in spring 2015.

This is the first time a member of the royal family has signed a civilian contract, proving once again that Wills is basically just like us. Sort of.

It has also been confirmed that he’ll donate his post-tax salary – approx. £30,155 a year – in full to an as yet undisclosed charity.

So, not only is he a little bit dreamy (what’s a few bald spots between friends?) and a future king, but he’s also going to be saving lives every day *swoons*.

While we always had Hazza down as our favourite prince, William is slowly winning us over.

First there were those shots of him and Kate looking all adorably cute at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

We don’t know what he’s doing here but just this.

And he does look pretty fine in uniform.
