She’s known as a ‘jolly hockey sticks’ kind of girl, but a spot of boxing seemed to put the Duchess of Cambridge in good spirits yesterday.
Kate cheered and clapped with princes William and Harry as English fighter Scott Fitzgerald won his bout – although she did cover her mouth in horror at one point as the action in the ring turned brutal.
Perhaps it was as well that young Prince George was left at home as his parents savoured the rough stuff at the Commonwealth Games yesterday.
And, relieved of baby duties, William had his hands free for a spot of sparring with Jamaican boxer Cheavon Clarke, while being introduced to contestants in Glasgow.

He and his wife went almost unnoticed as they took their seats with Harry for Fitzgerald’s welterweight match against Azumah Mohammed of Ghana.
But their cover was blown when they were shown on the big screen.
It wasn’t all royal excitement elsewhere at the Games, where Prince Edward, 50, and his ten-year-old daughter Lady Louise Windsor looked clearly exhausted as England’s women’s hockey team lost 3-0 to Australia.
