
Gay writer and ex-soldier James Wharton has written about how Prince Harry once stood up to homophobic bullies in the army.
Wharton worked in the army for a decade, including six weeks with Harry in 2008.
Writing in the Huffington Post about his experiences with the Prince, the former soldier recalls a particularly poignant anecdote.
One evening, Wharton ‘had got a little close to a soldier from another regiment whilst drinking in the bar’.
The following morning, ‘word had got round among the other regiment about what had happened’, with a group of sergeants reportedly being angry at him.
