The Crown star Dominic West has revealed he had a falling out with Prince Harry which resulted in them not speaking.

The 54-year-old actor plays Charles, Prince of Wales, in the later seasons of the controversial Netflix series, which recently came to an end with season six.

He took over from Josh O’Connor and starred alongside Princess Diana actress Elizabeth Debicki and Imelda Staunton as The Queen.

And while there’s been speculation over what the royals really think of the depiction, West has now admitted he doesn’t know what Prince Harry would be thinking, despite having met him in the past.

When asked if he ‘got his take’ on how to play his father during a conversation with Harry 10 years ago, The Wire actor revealed: ‘No, we sort of no… I said too much in a press conference, so we didn’t speak after that.’

While co-star Jonathan Pryce, who played Prince Phillip, warned him not to ‘say it again’, West went on to Times Radio: ‘I think I was asked what we did to celebrate when we got there and I probably said too much.’

West had been talking about a 2014 trip to the South Pole, alongside Harry, for a three-week charity trek with injured military veterans.

His comments come after it was claimed Harry ‘threw a s*** fit’ after West ‘said too much’.

A friend of the actor told The Daily Mail in 2022: ‘Harry threw a s*** fit. He accused Dominic of invading his privacy.

‘Dominic told him not to be ridiculous. They haven’t spoken since.’

When asked if they’d received any feedback from the royals, Pryce mentioned that there had been ‘intimations’ that Princess Anne had watched it, which led to an ‘amusing’ moment when he met her.

The 76-year-old was Knighted by the royal, after he had been cast for the role, and he admitted apologising to her, to which she replied: ‘Why? It’s done now.’

‘Now whether she meant I was saying sorry for being me tonight or sorry for, you know, you’ve played my father and it’s done the way you’ve done it, it’s whatever.

‘It was quite an amusing moment for me, at least.’

The final episodes see West play on-screen father to Ed McVey as Prince William and Luther Ford as Prince Harry, following the aftermath of Princess Diana’s death, after the fatal car crash in Paris in 1997.

William’s role had earlier been played by Senan West, however, West revealed there was a heartbreaking reason he stopped his son reprising the role.

He’d originally told Netflix’s Tudum that ‘it was lovely seeing him have a good time’, he’s now admitted he didn’t want Senan to continue on with the part.

Ahead of the final episodes airing, Dominic revealed: ‘I didn’t really fancy doing the scene at Balmoral, telling a boy his mother has died.’

He continued to Radio Times: ‘They invited Senan back because he did such a good job, and he was great, but I did slightly baulk at that.

‘It was unfair of me, because he did want to do it, but I wouldn’t have fancied that, to be honest.’

Metro.co.uk has approached Prince Harry’s reps for comment.

The Crown is available to watch on Netflix.
