The Dutch translation of a bombshell new book has been criticized again after a second royal ‘racist’ appears to have been named, it has been claimed.
In Endgame, Omid Scobie reveals letters to King Charles – then Prince of Wales – from the Duchess of Sussex about a family member’s comments speculating about the colour of their unborn baby Archie’s skin.
The author, who said there was a second person in the household who echoed the racist remarks, claimed UK libel laws stopped him from revealing their identities.
Yesterday it was revealed a review copy of the Dutch version of the book contained the passage: ‘In those private letters [name redacted] was confirmed.’
And Rick Evers, a Dutch journalist, told GMB this morning that a second royal is named in the Dutch version of the book.
The Dutch version has since been pulled from shelves in the Netherlands while the publishers investigate.
Speaking to GMB, Rick said: ‘The names of two senior royals are mentioned during the book.
‘The first one is very specific, the second one is a little bit vague.
‘They say it was a translation issue and there was some debate about how these passages were stated in the book.
‘I would say, how can you translate a name wrong?
‘I can’t believe it’s a translation error. I read through the book and saw some passages were missing in the English version, so something has been erased during the works that have been done on the book.’
In an appearance on a Dutch chat show today, Mr Scobie said: ‘The book is in several languages, and unfortunately I do not speak Dutch.
‘But if there are translation errors, I’m sure the publishers will have it under control.’
He said he had not included the names in any version he had produced.
There was no immediate comment from Buckingham Palace. But a spokesman for the Dutch publisher said: ‘You are right, but I can’t talk about the details. We have, however, received a request to put the title on hold and that is what we have done.’
Royal journalist Rick Evers posted: ‘It seems as if only the Dutch version has published the person’s name.’
The claims first surfaced in 2021, when the Sussexes gave an interview to US TV chat show host Oprah Winfrey.
Mr Scobie’s new book also suggests Charles evicted the couple from their Frogmore Cottage home to punish them for Harry’s tell-all autobiography Spare.
‘It was a cheap shot from a wounded father,’ he writes. Charles also branded his son ‘that fool’ after his Netflix documentary series was broadcast last year, Mr Scobie claims.
It also alleges Queen Camilla has ‘no respect for the way the couple handled themselves’ after quitting the royal family. ‘As for her relationship with Harry and Meghan – there is none.’
He also slams the Princess of Wales, lamenting how the press ‘infantalised’ her for the smallest of acts.
‘Admittedly, Kate has rarely put a foot wrong in public. But in instances where criticism would be fair, such as carrying out fewer engagements than other royals, or the fact that she has had five different private secretaries in six years, you’d be unlikely to read about it in any British newspaper,’ Scobie writes.
The ex-tabloid reporter, 42, also alleges the King has bedtime ‘temper tantrums’ if his pyjamas aren’t pressed.
