Prince Harry hasn’t skimped out on the bombshells in his memoir Spare, but a raunchy extract has left some Australian TV hosts wishing he’d kept some things private.
Since being released on Tuesday, the book has generated plenty of headlines for some of the stories within its pages, but the Australian breakfast program decided that one anecdote was simply too good to not discuss.
On Wednesday, the Today show let one of its reporters read out a passage where Harry recounts a reunion he had with Meghan Markle in a London hotel room in 2016.
After spending weeks apart, Harry wrote that he Meghan didn’t waste any time when they finally got some privacy.
The task of reading the extract fell on Lara Vella, who recounted the tryst to the hosts Alex Cullen and Brooke Boney.
‘I knocked and suspended breathing while I waited. The door flew open. That smile,’ Vella read.

‘Her hair was partly covering her eyes, her arms were reaching for me. She pulled me inside and thanked her friend in one fluid motion, then slammed the door quickly before anyone saw.’
The cameras then cut to Boney and Cullen who were clearly wincing at having to listen in to the intimate moment.
Vella continued: ‘I want to say we hung a “do not disturb” sign on the door, but I don’t think there was enough time.’
Boney then squealed and recoiled, as Cullen blurted out: ‘Is this a Mills & Boon novel? Is this R-rated? Woah!’

Pulling herself back together, Boney joked: ‘In the audiobook he reads that… so imagine him saying that in his voice in your ear.’
‘You’re driving along in the car, maybe going for a walk with the dog [and] Harry’s saying that,’ she added, before lurching forward and gagging.
‘You’re pulling over for that bit,’ Cullen said, before Boney added that she was ‘going to be sick’.

The Duke of Sussex’s memoir has had no shortage of revelations, including other details of his sex life.
In it, he recounts how he lost his virginity in a field to an older woman, and even recalled how a trip to the South Pole left him with a frostbitten penis before William and Kate’s 2011 wedding.
He also writes about his past drug use, including where he admitted he took cocaine as a teenager and smoked cannabis after relocating to California two years ago.
Today airs on Channel Nine in Australia.
