The Duchess of Sussex no longer has a dad, Prince Harry said as the pair told of family woes in their documentary.
Meghan said she only found out Thomas Markle (pictured with her) would miss her wedding ‘through a tabloid’.
The ‘unravelling happened’ after Mr Markle made headlines for apparently staging paparazzi shots before the Sussexes’ wedding in 2018 – then told media he’d had a heart attack but ignored the duchess’s concerned calls, she claimed.
The duke said: ‘It is incredibly sad what happened.
‘She had a father before this and now she doesn’t have a father. If Meg wasn’t with me, then her dad would still be her dad.’
Meanwhile, Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland recalled her first impressions of Harry – saying he had ‘really great manners’, and had struck her as ‘the one’ for her daughter.
