Harry and Meghan have revealed details from their intimate proposal – and shared new pictures from the evening.

The couple got engaged in 2017 and revisited the moment in their newly released Netflix documentary out today.

‘I wanted to do it earlier,’ the Duke of Sussex explained in episode two.

He added: ‘I had to ask permission from my grandmother, I couldn’t do it outside the UK.

‘I did pop a bottle of champagne while she was roasting a chicken, and that slightly gave the game away. I just said “Oh I had it lying around, whatever”.’

Sitting next to him, Meghan then interjected ‘It was a Magnum!’ before she burst into laughter.

Harry then went on to reveal how he bought 15 electric candles and set them out on a picnic blanket in the North Garden of Kensington Palace, overlooked by staff flats.

As he did so, Meghan had ‘peeked’ and called a friend in excitement.

Harry continued: ‘Of course I got down on one knee. Of course I did.’

Meghan added: ‘He was down on one knee and I was like “yes” we were so joyful and excited. We thought “we’re doing this!”’

Newly shared images of the evening show the couple beaming for the camera, alongside Meghan’s dog Guy.

The couple’s six part series has been eagerly anticipated for months, with the release date only confirmed in recent weeks.

It promised to lift the lid on the ‘truth’ behind the couple’s exit from the Royal Family.

But early trailers received backlash, such as for including footage of a mob of press photographers that was in fact from events that had nothing to do with the pair.
