Meghan Markle’s estranged dad has said he will ‘wait’ to see his grandchildren instead of suing his daughter and Prince Harry.
Thomas, 77, has made several public appeals to be involved in the lives of Archie and Lilibet, who he still hasn’t met.
He has previously hinted at taking legal action but now confirmed this will not be an option.
Speaking to Good Morning Britain from his home in Mexico, he said: ‘People have suggested in California that I sue to see my kids.
‘And I think that if I did that I would be a hypocrite, I’d be doing the same thing that Meghan and Harry are doing.
‘I don’t want to include my grandchildren in this kind of situation. I want to see my grandchildren with friendly parents all around.
‘I don’t want hostile parents while seeing my grandchildren. So I’ll wait.’

Grandparents can legally get visitation rights in California but this generally applies to grandparents who had a pre-existing relationship with the grandchild.
The California Judicial Branch said: ‘This means that there is such a bond between grandparent and grandchild that visitation is in the best interest of the grandchild.’
Speaking about being cut-off, Thomas added: ‘This is way too childish, it’s kind of silly. It’s time to talk to each other, those kids will grow up without knowing they have two families.’
The dad continued to slam his daughter and her husband, saying all they care about is money.
He also said Harry had ‘abandoned the Queen, the Royal Family, the British people and the army’.
The retired TV lighting director said: ‘Harry’s coming out with a book and that can’t be anything but cruel and to insult his grandmother and the Queen. It’s a ridiculous idea and it’s just something for money.
‘That’s all they’re doing. Everything they’re doing is for money. But to do that to your grandmother and the Queen, who’s 95 years old, is shameful.’

Thomas repeated his pleas for the families to ‘talk to each other’ saying he had not heard a word from Meghan or her inner circle since 2018.
Meghan previously told Oprah she felt her dad had betrayed her because he apparently lied about speaking to the press before her wedding.
She said at the time: ‘He wasn’t able to (tell the truth). And that for me has really resonated, especially now as a mother.
‘I look at Archie, I think about this child, and I go I genuinely can’t imagine doing anything to intentionally cause pain to my child. I can’t imagine it. So it’s hard for me to reconcile that.’
