Princess Diana would be going back and forth between California and London to see Prince Harry and Prince William’s families if she was still alive, Sarah Ferguson has said.
The Duchess of York has offered her support to both brothers and their wives, saying Diana would be ‘so proud of them’.
Commenting on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s explosive tell-all Oprah Winfrey interview, she said ‘there should be no judgement on race, creed, colour or any other denomination’.
It comes as tensions remain high between the siblings after the Duke of Sussex revealed his plan to write a tell-all book.
Speaking to The Sun ahead of the release of her new novel, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife named Diana ‘iconic and inspirational’.
She said: ‘I think first and foremost she’d be hugging her grandchildren and so proud of both her sons and their wives.
‘She’d be travelling between Santa Barbara and Kensington Palace. She would also be championing her causes when it came to children’s charities.’
When asked what she thought of how Meghan Markle had been treated by the press in a separate interview with Good Morning America, she replied: ‘I wish Harry and Meghan so much happiness.
‘I know Diana would be so proud of her sons and their wives.’
Fergie has previously said she was ‘best friends with Diana from when she was 14 and I was 15’.
She told PEOPLE that they supported each other as the media pitted them against each other for their looks.
She said: ‘In the ’80s, it was Diana looking beautiful, and there was fat, frumpy Fergie.
‘We were just there for people to make a lot of money. At the time we both didn’t realize that.’
Fergie has said she is ‘finding her voice’ with her new novel, Her Heart for a Compass.
Set in the Victorian era, it follows ‘free-spirited’ Lady Margaret Montagu Scott who flees an arranged marriage.
