EastEnders star Patsy Palmer has said she is ‘happy’ that people are unfollowing her on social media after she showed support for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following their interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Patsy, who played Bianca Jackson in the BBC One soap, posted a photo on her Instagram to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The image was of American feminists Gloria Steinem and Dorothy Pitman Hughes from 1971. Patsy included a caption alongside the image that said: ‘This is more than just a women’s day !!! @meganmarkles’

This comes after Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah, in which Meghan revealed an unnamed member of the family had come to Harry with ‘concerns’ over the colour of son Archie’s skin.

After Patsy shared the photo, followers posted angry comments, with many disagreeing with her views.

One follower wrote: ‘I hope she’s telling the truth. She could do such a number on the royal family if she’s actually nuts.’

But it prompted Patsy to respond and said: ‘She didn’t seem nuts to me! Very sane and very brave!!!!’

The comments continued, with another person adding: ‘I think your wrong here… two sides and they have both already contradicted themselves.’

Patsy then addressed her fans, commenting on how people are unfollowing her because she is supporting Meghan.

In a lengthy post, she wrote: ‘I’m so happy that people are deciding to unfollow me because I’m supporting @sussexroyal & @meganmarkles. Thankyou, vibes don’t lie so take your energy elsewhere. They are brave and should be applauded for that.

‘He saw his mother go through hell because she wasn’t accepted, now he is protecting his family. If we all speak up when we feel more supported to do so we all win and the evil that surrounds bullies lose. More people stay alive, less people are trapped in situations they feel unsafe in.’

‘I don’t care Royal or not. I loved the Royal story and still love history but this is another story that’s not Royal at all.’
