The Duke and Duchess of Sussex looked happy and relaxed as they joined the Queen for a church service in Windsor today.
It was the first time Meghan and the Queen have seen each other since the Sussex’s bombshell announcement they were stepping down as senior royals back in January.
The couple were sen smiling as they pulled in to The Royal Chapel of All Saints following Her Majesty’s ‘sweet gesture’ of asking them to accompany her.
A source told People: ‘It’s telling in the sense that these two are still her family. And as a family they all love each other.’
Meghan wore a fascinator-style headpiece with emerald earrings, while Harry wore a suit and tie. The Queen arrived wearing sunglasses along with a light blue outfit and matching hat.
When the details of the couple’s departure were finalised the Queen issued a rare emotional statement saying Harry, Meghan and great-grandson Archie ‘will always be much loved members of my family’.
Harry reportedly had a ‘heart-to-heart’ during a four-hour lunch at Windsor Castle last week during which the Queen was said to have told him he will ‘always be welcomed back’.
The duke and duchess are in the UK for their final few engagements as working royals.
They were given a rousing ovation as they arrived at the Royal Albert Hall for the Mountbatten Festival of Music last night.
The pair wore matching red, Prince Harry in the mess uniform of the Royal Marines complete with medals awarded from two tours in Afghanistan and Meghan Markle in a £1,295 Safiyaa dress and cape, accessorised with earrings from Simone Rocha.
Meghan also paid a surprise visit to pupils at Robert Clack School in Dagenham, east London, to mark International Women’s Day and met one of the women who fought an historic equal pay battle in the nearby Ford car plant.
They are set to be reunited with Kate and William for the first time in months at the Commonwealth Service on Monday.
