Lord Alan Sugar has claimed that Meghan Markle ‘blew out’ Piers Morgan, and that the Good Morning Britain host ‘grovelled’ to the Duchess of Sussex for a drink with her.
The two TV stars are involved in a longstanding feud, and chapter 1,302 of the beef has emerged – with Meghan Markle as the kindling that sparked the row.
Yesterday, Piers, 54, wrote a seething column about Prince Harry and Meghan, following their announcement that they would be stepping down from their roles as senior royals and working to become ‘financially independent’.
Piers tweeted out his column for the Daily Mail, writing: ‘NEW: The Queen must FIRE Their Royal Hustlers: Deluded Meghan and Harry should be stripped of their titles before this pair of grasping, selfish, scheming Kardashian-wannabes bring down the Monarchy.’
And in the piece, he claimed he and Meghan ‘were friends for a while, or I thought we were’, until he was ‘discarded faster than a piece of chewing gum stuck to the bottom of her Louboutin heels’ after they had a drink in Piers’ local pub.
Morgan wrote: ‘For a while, I continued supporting her in public, refusing to believe someone who seemed so nice and normal could be quite that calculating and ruthless.
‘But I never heard from her again, and when I saw her do the same to her own father Thomas, I realised this is what Meghan does when people are either no longer of use to her or might be “problematic” to the bigger prize.’
However, Lord Sugar wasn’t about to miss the opportunity to dunk on his rival.
Why don't you come clean @piersmorgan .Tell your followers what you have against Meghan. Fact is she blew you out. You groveled to take her to your pub once and since then she has not answered your grovelling calls. Had she acknowledged you it would be a different story. QED https://t.co/Y5ksJ2xDKx

a) SHE asked to meet ME for a drink.
b) I take people as I find them & Meghan’s someone who befriends people when they can help her but ditches them if she finds someone more important. Even you don’t do that & you’re a revolting human being. https://t.co/Gz8XrnQtKF— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) January 10, 2020
The Apprentice host, 72, tweeted: ‘Why don’t you come clean @piersmorgan. Tell your followers what you have against Meghan. Fact is she blew you out.
‘You groveled to take her to your pub once and since then she has not answered your grovelling calls. Had she acknowledged you it would be a different story. QED [sic].’
But Piers stood his ground, replying: ‘a) SHE asked to meet ME for a drink.
‘b) I take people as I find them & Meghan’s someone who befriends people when they can help her but ditches them if she finds someone more important. Even you don’t do that & you’re a revolting human being.’
Which is possibly the most backhanded compliment we’ve ever heard.
Whether Lord Sugar has touched a nerve or not, we doubt we’ll hear the last of Piers’ vendetta against Meghan and Harry.
The ITV star tweeted a picture of the couple next to the Queen and wrote: ‘How dare these two self-absorbed whining freeloaders treat the Queen like this?
‘Who the hell do they think they are? Shameless & shameful.’
And he also denied criticism of Meghan was to do with her ethnicity, replying to Gina Yashere: ‘The criticism of Meghan Markle has nothing to do with her skin colour & everything to do with her being a shameless piece of work doing huge damage to our Royal Family.’
The Duke and Duchess are understood to have blindsided the Queen and other senior royals when they announced to the public that they wanted a more independent life.
A royal source said the Queen had been ‘hurt’ by the couple’s decision to make a public statement, saying that talks had been at an ‘early stage’ the night before.
It is understood the Queen responded by ordering all four royal households to find a ‘rapid’ solution ‘within days not weeks’.
A Buckingham Palace source said the royal family was working ‘at pace’ to sort the couple’s new situation.
