Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s withdrawal from their roles as senior royals has meant one major thing for the internet – an avalanche of memes and hopes for The Crown’s future seasons.
Harry and Meghan announced their intentions to step down from their senior royal position earlier today (Wednesday).
They plan to split their time between the UK and North America, raising their son Archie together.
The statement in part read: ‘This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.
‘We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties.
‘Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support.’
But what the internet heard was: MAJOR THE CROWN SEASON 10 SPOILER ALERT.
And obviously, as if they were going to waste any kind of time not using this moment of British history to serve up some memes.

As much as we appreciate the internet being excited, unfortunately for them it seems that it’s not going to be happening any time soon.
Season four will take place in the 80s – with Gillian Anderson joining the cast as ‘Iron Lady’ PM Margaret Thatcher.
The entire cast will then be replaced for a time jump in seasons five and six.
So we’re maybe looking at this current time period heading our way in season eight at best – if the show continues to run that long.
As for what The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s announcement means in the long run, even Buckingham Palace tonight admitted it was ‘early days’ and there are ‘complicated issues to work out.’
It is understood the Queen and Prince Charles were unaware of the contents of the bombshell statement before it was released on Wednesday evening.
The Crown is available now on Netflix.
