Loose Women’s Andrea McLean admitted she wanted to give Megan Markle a hug and invite her round for a cup of tea after watching Harry & Meghan: An African Journey.

The presenter, 50, admitted the emotional scenes which showed Meghan struggling with the press attention brought her to tears as she watched the documentary about their latest royal tour.

She told Metro.co.uk: ‘I feel really sorry for them. I watched the documentary and I cried! I just thought, you’re watching two young people who have fallen in love, got married and had a baby and they’re struggling at the moment.

‘And I think we should see them as human beings for a little bit and just back off and stop comparing them to William and Kate who have been doing this for a lot longer and also they’re just different people.’

She added that she would willingly be a shoulder for the Duchess to cry on – and she’s welcome round for a cuppa any time.

Andrea added: ‘I wanted to reach into the telly and give her a big hug! I thought she’s just had a baby and no-one really understands what that does to your hormones and how you feel.

‘I literally was like “come round to mine and I’ll make you a nice cup of tea, tell me how you’re feeling!”’

The Loose Women star has teamed up with Acuvue after discovering she had been suffering from presbyopia, a sight problem often known as ‘long arm syndrome’ which usually occurs around the age of 45.

While she now manages the condition with multi-focal contact lenses, Andrea admitted the condition did affect her day-to-day life and work.

She explained: ‘I didn’t know it had a posh name, I always just thought it was called long-arm syndrome.

‘It’s the normal thing of trying to read newspapers, obviously I need to read the papers in the morning before the show, I need to be able to look at my scripts and autocue but it’s more when the lights are dim that you really notice it because you are sort of squinting and holding things a certain way to see them.’
