A royal biographer has warned Meghan Markle to stay away from political activism because ‘not everyone will agree with your point of view’.
Lady Colin Campbell, 60, who claims to have been a confidante of Princess Diana, said the Duchess of Sussex is ‘almost disturbingly over-confident’ in her opinions.
In an interview with the Independent, she said Meghan was ‘more educated and academic’ than Prince Harry’s mother but there were ‘discomforting parallels’ between the two women.
Lady Campbell, who has published unofficial biographies on the royals, said both Meghan, 37, and Diana were bright and ambitious, but the late princess’ ‘insecurities and instability’ stood in her way.
She said: ‘There are discomforting parallels between the two women – both bright, ambitious, canny women who have known how to play the game.

‘Meghan is much better educated and more academic. Meghan is almost disturbingly self-confident. We must hope she realises that her vision is not the only vision.’
Speaking on Meghan’s passion for women’s rights and previous work with the UN, she said the duchess must not become a ‘political activist’.
‘Royals must represent all of the people, and all of the people cannot agree with your point of view,’ the writer said.
‘There are many conservative people, all over the world, many religious people, who do not have these “woke” and “right-on” views.’
Meghan shut down all of her social media accounts after her relationship to Prince Harry was made public, but this week the pair re-joined Instagram with the @SussexRoyal account.
The account will follow the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after Meghan and Harry announced their formal split from the household of William and Kate.
They will form a new royal household away from Kensington Palace, around the same time the pair complete their move onto the Windsor Estate.
