It seems Meghan Markle is well-rehearsed for her first major overseas tour later this month, as she did a sterling job of winning over the crowds during royal engagements in Sussex.
It’s her and Prince Harry’s first visit the home county as Duke and Duchess of Sussex and she managed to leave her Meghan mark after greeting young fans, schoolchildren and even some cute dogs who’d been waiting to meet the royal couple.
Crowds had been gathering on West Street in Chichester all morning, awaiting Harry and Meghan’s first stop of the day at Edes House.
Schoolchildren from Westbourne House School were among those who had queued to wait for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – and they even had a gift for the pair.
As Harry and Meghan headed for the crowds, she approached the schoolkids and was gifted an A-Z of Sussex that they had made specially for her.
‘That is fantastic!’ the former actress exclaimed. ‘Oh my goodness, you guys! Thank you, that’s very cool. Thank you.’
Meghan looked genuinely taken aback as she flicked through the specially-made guide, saying hello to as many of the pupils as she could and shaking hands with some of them.
She was pictured greeting other schoolchildren during the brief walkabout, with adorable photos showing Harry and Meghan crouching down beside the railings to chat to some of their smallest fans.
Harry and Meghan will embark on their first official overseas trip as a married couple later this month, as they head to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga for two weeks.
They are set to arrive in Sydney. Australia, on Tuesday 16 October, where their tour will commence.
Other locations they will visit include Sydney three times, as well as travelling to Dubbo, Australia; Melbourne, Australia; Fraser Island, Australia; Suva, Fiji; Nadi, Fiji; Nuku’alofa, Tonga; Wellington, New Zealand; Abel Tasman, New Zealand and Auckland, New Zealand, ending in Rotorua, New Zealand for the final leg of their tour on Wednesday 31 October.
It will be Meghan’s first major overseas trip but if her Sussex outing is anything to go by, she’s got nothing to worry about when it comes to winning over royal fans Down Under and representing the Royal Family.
Harry and Meghan will be attending is the Invictus Games, which are taking place in Sydney from 20 to 27 October.
