Prince Harry to get his own custom-made version of FIFA 13, after he recently boasted of being the best FIFA player in the army.
Video games don’t often get a royal endorsement but as part of his recent set of interviews, following his return to Afghanistan, the second in line to the throne has been showing off about his virtual football skills.
As a result publisher EA has mocked up a ‘Royal Edition’ of the current FIFA 13, replacing usual cover star Lionel Messi with Prince Harry. They’ve also put together a Royal XI in the game’s Ultimate Team mode, with Alex Fergusson as the dream team manager.
EA intend to create a physical version of the Royal Edition and deliver it to Clarence House for the Prince.
Harry is apparently a keen gamer and recently revealed he enjoyed playing on both the PlayStation and Xbox. He doesn’t seem to have mentioned any other games by name though, other than FIFA, so it’s not clear where else his gaming tastes lie.
As a gunner on an Apache gunship though he may well have come across Apache: Air Assault on consoles and PC – a detailed simulation of the helicopter he uses.
‘It’s a joy for me because I’m one of those people who loves playing PlayStation and Xbox, so with my thumbs I like to think that I’m probably quite useful,’ he said while describing his role.
